WILLIE WARTAAL (DJ)
The versatile rapper, DJ, producer, and presenter Willie Wartaal is part of the supergroup De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig and broke through in 2005 with their debut single 'Watskeburt?!'. The track became an instant cult hit and reached number 1 on all relevant charts.
Other successful musical collaborations by WiWa include: 'Konijntje' by Aka The Junkies, 'Dom, Lomp & Famous' with The Opposites, 'Wat Wil Je Doen' with The Partysquad, 'Barry Hayze' with Donnie, and countless club hits with fellow rappers Bokoesam, Sef, and Murda (Turk). You might also know WiWa as an actor in 'Blackout', 'Spangas', and 'Nieuwe Kunst', or as the presenter of 'Operatie Obesitas', 'Statements', and 'Expeditie Robinson'.
Besides being a hip-hop entrepreneur, WiWa is also completely in his element as a house/eclectic DJ. From various pop venues to urban clubs, student parties, and open-minded festivals like Lowlands and Milkshake, WiWa is there!
All these influences from his career motivated WiWa to release the solo albums 'Enkel Bangers' (2020) and 'Nieuwe Kunst' (2021). Since the spring of 2022, WiWa has started releasing standalone singles aimed at the dance floor, because we are allowed to again… Armed with new house tracks such as 'Ey Gap', 'Sutu', 'Hey Bolle', and 'Nachtapotheker', he can once again be seen as a DJ at festivals in the Netherlands and Belgium.
