HEIDEROOSJES

Heather roses grow on barren ground and survive every season. That applies literally and figuratively, because the punk rockers are going on tour again in 2027. “A ritual cleansing, full of energy, amidst like-minded people,” is how singer Marco Roelofs describes their upcoming concerts. Anyone who has ever seen the quartet live can attest to this. The collective has been plowing through the music scene since 1989. Ignoring trends, with three chords and a fistful of ideals.

What has that brought her?

Eleven albums, countless appearances at Pinkpop, Lowlands, Werchter, Pukkelpop, and all those other festivals. An Edison Award, nearly 2,000 concerts during tours through Europe, the US, Japan, and South Africa with musical kindred spirits like The Misfits, The Offspring, Bad Religion, and Pennywise. Collaborations with their childhood heroes, including Lemmy from Motörhead, but also the legendary Flemish comedian Urbanus.
Meanwhile, their third album 'Fifi' spent more than half a year in the album charts, and—sometime in the late nineties—they landed a record contract with the biggest American punk label, EPITAPH. Oh yes, the majority of the Heideroosjes' songs are in English.

After their blistering show at Lokerse Feesten (2022), the Flemish newspaper De Morgen reviewed
Heather roses brought loads of energy... and won.

The new tour also brings a new line-up; Jeroen Meeus is the new bassist. “We already knew him from his band, MARCH, with whom we toured together. Jeroen is a super energetic bassist, plays tight, and his Flemish accent is just as authentic as our dialect.”

There is new energy behind the drum stool as well. Igor Hobus has stepped down, but a new force was quickly found in Mart Nijen Es. He is no stranger to the band, as he previously drummed for Marco Roelofs' STAVAST project.

During the 'Blijven Schreeuwen Tour 2027', by the way, special attention is paid to the albums Kung Fu (1997, thirtieth anniversary!) and Chapter Eight, The Golden State (2007, twentieth anniversary!)
