THE OPPOSITES

The Opposites is a rap duo consisting of Big2 and Willem. A lot has happened since they broke through in 2005 with hits like 'Fok Jou' and 'Slaap' from the album 'De Fik Er In'. The duo grew into one of the biggest Dutch-language hip-hop acts in history, until the act disbanded in 2014.

Twan & Willem scored hit after hit with singles such as 'Dom, Lomp & Famous', 'Broodje Bakpao', 'Licht Uit', 'Slapeloze Nachten', 'Hey DJ', 'Sukkel Voor De Liefde', and 'Thunder'. Additionally, tracks like 'Me Nikes', 'Geen Klasse, Geen Stijl', 'Sjonnie & Anita', and 'Op Een Level' became absolute floorfillers in clubs and at festivals in the Netherlands and Belgium.
On the live front, the gentlemen have developed into one of the most energetic and leading live acts in the Netherlands and Belgium. Album tours consistently sold out and they were a festival favorite for a decade, with headlining spots at festivals such as Solar, Pukkelpop (BE), Lowlands, Mysteryland, Tomorrowland (BE), Pinkpop, Zwarte Cross, and Rock Werchter (BE).

We can rightfully state that The Opposites are largely responsible for the development of the niche genre 'NL Hip-Hop' into today's mainstream success. For this, they have also been honored throughout their career with awards such as the 'Zilveren Harp', 'Popprijs', and multiple 'TMF, 3FM, and Urban Awards'. Recently, the gentlemen accepted the 'Edison Pop Oeuvre' award. According to the jury, the duo became “legendary due to their many major hits and killer club tracks” and their oeuvre stands “at a special height within Dutch pop history”.

In 2019, the headlines screamed 'The Opposites return to Appelsap for a one-off performance'. Willem & Twan themselves were so overwhelmed by their reunion show in Amsterdam that they couldn't resist an invitation for an intimate surprise show at Lowlands' Sexyland the following week. The festival was once again turned completely upside down!

This gave the duo the push they needed to play for their home crowd at the Gashouder in Amsterdam once again.
In 2022, successful shows at Lowlands and Pukkelpop, among others, followed.
